Personalised Therapy

Trust in yourself, trust in life

You are a whole person, and who you are is far greater than any label, whether medical, cultural, racial, related to your sexuality, gender, class, or any other aspect of your identity.

My role is to assist you in rediscovering your innermost self,  honouring your experiences, values, skills, gifts and competencies. Together, we may work to neutralise painful emotions and reclaim precious aspects of your identity that have been hurt, shamed, or left untapped and undiscovered. I am here to help you do "the work" of inner healing, supporting you to trust and appreciate who you really are.

I synthesise therapeutic modalities into a culturally-sensitive and personalised therapy that empowers you to release the burdens of your heart, amplify your resilience and lead your life with grounded calm and clarity.

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" Mary Oliver

Personalised therapy is open-ended and may be short-term or long-term depending on your preference. Sessions are held by phone, video call or in person.

Frequently asked questions

How long does therapy last?

Therapy could last anything from several weeks to months, or sometimes years. Usually, people gain insight into their issues and explore ways to move forward within the first few sessions. Still, it may take about 6 to 8 sessions to understand the depth of the work possible together. Short-term therapy may last up to 20 sessions. Long-term therapy is for if you want consistent and ongoing support to grow as a person and enhance your well-being.

How does open-ended therapy work?

Open-ended therapy means that we can work at a pace that is comfortable to you until we reach a mutual, therapeutic ending. As soon as you or I sense we may be approaching an ending to a piece of work, we can communicate about this, review, and discuss next steps.

What kind of commitment is required during therapy?

Therapy empowers you to grow your sense of autonomy and well-being. It may be necessary to schedule time out of your usual routine or work pattern, in order to attend your therapy sessions. It is only by using your own agency, valuing yourself and prioritising your therapy, that it may be possible for you to receive the benefits of therapy.

You will be responsible for your personal safety, health, and medical care throughout your time in therapy. Please ensure that you are well hydrated and have eaten well, and taken any necessary medications before attending sessions. Please do not arrive under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs otherwise the session may be terminated and still charged in full. You may experience improvements in your health and well-being, however, if you are on prescribed medication, please do not alter your dosage without a good conversation and thorough understanding reached with your GP.

How does online and telephone therapy take place?

I will call you privately by phone at the time of your appointment, or we can arrange for you to call me. Alternatively, if you prefer video-calls, these are accessible via your internet browser from a computer or handheld device, with no need to download any software. All you will need is a mic and a camera. During calls, please make sure that you are in a comfortable space where you will not be disturbed. If there are technical issues, or if you simply prefer, we can connect via WhatsApp.
