An online, therapeutic neuroqueer community for individuals who are neurodivergent and queer (or allies), facilitated by Kes.
It's a calm, spiritual, creative and playful space.
You are warmly invited to tap into and grow your authenticity. Authenticity is not just a wishy-washy idea. Scientific research shows that authenticity is the basis of psychological wellbeing. But, what does it involve?
Come and find out how to:
Stay honest with yourself (and others) about your needs
Embrace living with the whole muddle of your thoughts and feelings
Find a deeper sense of self, big enough to contain all that you are
Stop pushing away aspects of yourself with shame, fear and guilt
Connect safely with others as you are, not as you think they want you to be
This is a stim-friendly space, accommodating support needs (and requests) wherever possible. We gently explore low-pressure creative and reflective activities. You can engage with your own level of social battery and spoons, so you will leave feeling re-charged rather than totally drained. Plus, it's all online, so you don't even have to leave your home.
Activities include:
Writing for self-understanding, wellbeing and creativity
Making a creative mess to explore your inner mess
Survival strategies for dealing with neurotypical nonsense
Opportunities to connect with peers (but no pressure!)
I hope this community will help you grow authentic joy, heal from harm, and respond to the challenges of living in a neuronormative, disabling, and productivity-obsessed capitalist society. The crux of it is, that this group has a decolonial, liberation-based focus on uplifting your neuroqueer wellbeing. But, don't worry too much about the theory, we can go slow, consent-based, and explore together.
Why take part? Some benefits might include:
Find ways to meet your needs for gentle connection and playful self development (through the grit and the grace!)
Find a group of people all rooting for you; this is a space to support your highs and lows
Getting back to You and what it means to shine; reconnect with your own values and inner sense of direction
This is a diversity-affirming space, where everyone’s individuality is respected. We take the literal definition of 'healing' that comes from it's etymological roots meaning 'becoming whole'. That means this is a space for the whole of you, where, if you want to, you can gradually experiment with unmasking and loving all aspects of yourself, the way you deserve. Not in an egoic 'I'm better than thou' kind of way, but in a self-accepting, down-to-earth way that champions and your wellbeing.
Communal healing is ancient. Human beings have always gathered together in circles to share companionable support. Healing in community can be a very powerful experience as the care, compassion and insight is multiplied by everyone in attendance. Your engagement and presence are not only beneficial for you, but also for other people in the group.
Thinking of joining? For everyone's safety and well-being, everyone attends a free, initial one-to-one chat to ensure that the approach will be a suitable match for you. If this isn't suitable, other resources may be suggested. This is not therapy, but a therapeutic peer-support community. It's okay if you're not familiar with group work, or if you've had lots of experience, simply get in touch and we can discuss whether this opportunity could be the right space for you. You only need to participate in the space, as much or as little as feels comfortable for you.
Monday evenings 7 to 8.30 pm, online, once a month. £15 or pay what you can.
